'Strange Voyage' is a project by artist Helga Oskarsdottir that sets out to rekindle the artist's relationship with the urban
landscape of Amsterdam. Having inserted 40 pieces of monochrome paintings into the fabric of the city, she investigates the fate
of these ambiguous signposts after a week has passed. The discovery that most of them have disappeared into orbit offers little
hope that the fate of these pieces of art will ever be revealed. The result of these urban interferences is the exhibition
'Strange Voyage' at Zoete-Broodjes project space in Amsterdam.
Together with the artist Gabriel Kousbroek, Oskarsdottir has developed a special performance for the opening.
Be aware that you should bring a SMALL piece of HARD junk to the opening as this will be your ticket to ride... (dimension maximum 5x5 cm).
Helga Oskarsdottir studied at the Gerrit Rietveld Academie and the The Icelandic School of Art and Crafts in Island.
She did her MA in Fine Arts at The Chelsea College of Art and Design in London. Alongside her art practice, she has
held art workshops for children as well as working as a freelance web and graphic designer.
